Summary

The Association of Photographers approached NOSY with an interesting task to develop visual branding for a new type of membership for their members which would be reserved for the very best of practitioners working in the field of visual communication.

The AOP was formed in 1968, by photographers, for photographers. Originally named The Association of Fashion and Advertising Photographers it has continued to evolve into one of the most prestigious professional photographer associations in the world.

The AOP’s aims remain the same today as they were over 50 years ago: to support, protect and inspire its members and to vigorously defend and lobby for the interests and rights of all photographers.

Membership is open to all professional and assisting photographers working in the creative sector, as well as agents, service providers, educational establishments and companies working in the photographic industry.

The Challenge

Working for an established association like the AOP with more than 50 years of heritage we had to look to create something that both complemented the existing AOP branding whilst moving the Association forward with a more contemporary look and feel.

We also needed to create a logo that would translate into being used as a physical award as well as being able to reproduce on posters, books and exhibitions. The end result was perfectly received by the stakeholders at the AOP who signed off the designs and branding guidelines on the second round of iterations.

We look forward to the AOP ICON becoming an annual fixture in the AOP Awards season.
